Blake emerged from a low bank of early morning clouds and turned left towards the residential section of Blackway.
Blake spent several hours earlier intercepting police communications and sifting through local newspaper reports until he found the name of the young man in the center of the unexplained fire and property damage at the Blackway Gulp N Go. His name was Gustavo Guzman.
After a little more online research, Blake found out the Guzman’s home address.
He decided to ask Gustavo some questions after he completed an aerial patrol around Blackway and the surrounding countryside to see if he could spot any unusual activity.
Blake made his second sweep of the loosely arranged residential neighborhoods closest to the center of the city when something caught his eye.
He flew a little lower until he was floating a few feet above the tops of the sleeping houses.
Traffic was sparse at this time of day; adults were already at work or on their way there, and Blake didn’t see any kids outside as he hovered low over each house.
Suddenly, the air in front of a house two streets over shimmered and appeared to shift and then subside. Blake didn’t believe his eyes at first. There was no way he just watched a kid walk through a wall into a house, right?
Now Blake knew he needed to investigate further.
He circled slowly and gracefully towards the appropriate street, landing noiselessly in front of the house where he saw the kid disappear.
Blake glanced at the house number and street where he’d landed: 325 Sycamore. With a start, he realized this was Gustavo Guzman’s house.
Blake pulled a ball cap out of his back pocket, straightened his slightly windblown outfit, and knocked on the front door.
