The Mouse who dreamed of flight Part 3
A quiet mouse named Penny watched Cecil from afar.
Her parents told her he was strange but Penny wasn’t sure.
She saw him sneak away each morn and wondered what he did
She saw him drift away each night and wondered where he hid.
Born smaller than her siblings with a shy and quiet voice
She had no friends, did not fit in but never by her choice
So one day as he made his trip she followed close behind
Stayed out of sight and hoped she might see what he had in mind.
Just as she crested Cecil’s hill she felt a rush of wind
Glancing up to see the birds, she gasped and then she grinned
For tucked among the soaring wings, she saw a mouse in flight
An acorn helmet on his head, a grin of pure delight
She marveled at this curious sight with wide and joy-filled eyes
Then suddenly the feeling fled replaced by a surprise
As Cecil hovered past he turned and saw Pen hiding there
In panic, Penny fell down flat and tried to disappear.
