What will he think? Will he be mad? Why did I even come?
She wished that she was still secure and safe in bed at home.
Then Penny heard a sound close by and curled into a ball
Alone and scared, too late to run hot tears began to fall
Cecil walked up to her and said “Please don’t be afraid
What is your name? Do I know you? I'm so glad that you came!”
The kindness in his voice showed her that it would be alright
So Penny got up slowly and she stepped into the light
“My name is Penny mouse, I’ve watched you and I wondered why
You snuck off every day I didn’t know that you could fly!
How did you learn to fly like that? Where did you get those wings?
I’ve never seen a thing like this. Please tell me everything!”
Cecil laughed and pointed at the wings strapped on his back
“Since I was young I yearned to fly but never had the knack.
So I learned from the birds and made my own mouse wings to fly
I thought that no one else would care. Hey, would you like to try?”
Her eyes grew wide to match her smile “Oh, yes! How do I do it?”
Cecil laughed, gave her the wings and said “There’s nothing to it.
“Just watch me and I’ll show you how and when you’re ready go.
Once you’re not scared to fall you won’t believe how high you’ll go.”
So every day Cecil and Penny met on Cecil’s hill
Penny started slow but every day gained grace and skill
One day Cecil surprised her with a pair of wings to try
So they would fly together, two brave mice who owned the sky
Now word begin to spread about a pair of mice that flew
And crowds begin to gather to see what these mice could do
So if you dream of doing something don’t be scared to try
Cecil will tell you it will all be worth it when you fly.
